And now onto the Passion Part of the post! It is Passion week here at Bliss Habits so let’s go!
“Your work is to discover your work and then with all your heart to give yourself to it.” – Buddha
I was “chatting” with Kat Dean, Bliss Habits contributor from Sunday, and I confessed I have trouble with Passion to which she replied, “Really? I can’t imagine that being true.” and I realized in that instant that I have been getting way too serious and introspective on the actual meaning of the word instead of having fun with what the word evokes for me. At one point, during last week’s exploration of the word I even considered tossing the whole thing out and changing it for another word: PLAY.
Now that I’ve had a 13 weeks to mull things over, I suppose that would be a little rash. Passion is over used and perhaps sometimes misunderstood, precisely because it means so many things to so many people. Mention it and people’s ears immediately perk up. Consider that you have lost it and you immediately feel as if something important is missing. It isn’t a word to be tossed haphazardly away!
So I’ve decided this week I am going to play with passion, celebrate passion and plain old have fun with passion.
One of the ways I plan to do this is to explore the things I’ve said I’m passionate about. When I’ve taken the time to put a list together as I have done on my last two birthdays I feel immediately happier about life in general. Not sure why this is the case but I find it particularly thrilling to remember the things I am passionate about. We can easily get caught up in life and forget all the wonderful things that truly makes our heart sing.
So your task, if you choose to accept it is to think about some of your passions.
- Are you fully exploring the things that are important to you?
- What puts a smile on your face?
- Have you put any passions on the back burner?
- If time and money were not an issue where would you spend your time
- What are you doing when you feel most alive and energized?
Answer these questions. See if you get excited about something and make a plan to engage and play with these passions. Let me know in a comment what you discovered!!
