Linda Adsetts and The Group are here with their weekly Go for the Joy message. Enjoy!
Service is frequently considered a valuable action, a selfless action and something that we must do in order to give back for the gift of our life.
What if it is far more than that and far simpler than that? What if what we consider being of service ends up taking away from the world?
Consider your desire to be of service. Where does that desire come from?
I am letting The Group come in now-it appears they have something to offer to us on this topic.
Dear ones, sweet ones who give of yourselves over and over to your families and your co-workers wondering when, oh when will your reward or recognition come to you. It won’t.
As long as you are wondering when you will get it, it won’t. But, sweet beings, that we love so very much, when you do things just because you can and it makes you feel good and you could give two hoots whether you receive any thanks for it, then that is true service to your world.
Now how do you get to that place of not giving two hoots about it?
Well, first you have to fill yourself up with so much joy that everything else is inconsequential. You cannot pour from an empty vessel.
So, say that you have been doing, doing and doing for your children and there are no thanks in sight. It happens frequently-the little ones can be oblivious to your efforts to provide and care for them!
On a bad day you grumble and rumble about, muttering about the thankless task of being a parent. On a good day you don’t even think about it. You make breakfast for them with a song in your heart. You drop a task to drive them to their playmate.
Nothing has changed in them and everything was changed in you.
The only difference is how you are feeling. If you had a visit with some uplifting friends and rolled into your delicious bed and woke with a song in your heart everything is changed for you.
But, if you put yourself on the back burner and skipped a fun yoga class or decided you couldn’t leave your children with a sitter to enjoy an evening with your friend, then the next morning you might just feel a tad resentful.
In that moment your children feel that and they then decide that the breakfast you made, was not to their liking and the clothes you picked for them to wear that day were just not right and well we see how it escalates and by the time you are in the midst of it, you have a hard time turning it around. Whew-we do understand. It isn’t always fun!
But, remember the time it was fun and do you remember what led up to that?
You decided that fun was something you wanted and the moment that you did that
and started looking for the joy, you started to find it.
And once you found it and immersed yourself in it-everything changed. You were happier and suddenly everything was easier to do. People were easier to be around, things got done with ease. Oh the ease that is in joy.
This dear ones, is what it is all about. Be in service to yourself first and the rest will joyfully and easily fall into place. You will have the energy to do more and be more of you. You will change your world and with that it will expand everything.
From that place of standing on the precipice of expansion all things are possible and the only thing you have to do is choose what comes next!
Make the choice joyful and all will be well!
