Can a Vision Board jump start my lackluster Order week performance?

As you may have been able to tell I have been having a rather lackluster showing in the are of Order this time around. I haven’t tried any heroic acts to get my wardrobe down to 33 items. I started off making my bed but have to admit to not following through every day. That garage I found a few Order weeks back needs to be found again. The chaos surrounds me.

It has become clear that I need to try a different approach. Perhaps the lure of Creativity week, starting in just a few days, is influencing me as I am returning to an idea from a couple of years ago, when  my Sweetie and I created a Vision Board for our family. At that time we had a specific goal in mind, which was to buy a house. Here is that board:

In that board we left room to add other things as they occurred to us, a Hawaiian vacation, better food, more romance etc. You may notice the Barack Obama pin, if you are dissatisfied or happy with our President you can blame or credit me since clearly I visualized the Election Outcome on this board! Anyway, that board served its purpose; we bought our house, took that vacation… The type of board we created was VERY outcome driven and did the job for us.

Some of you may be wondering , why a VISION BOARD is part of ORDER week? Well for me it all comes down to two things. First, you cant set up the priorities in your life if you haven’t figured out what they are and second, taking a step towards the manifestation of your priorities is a great first step in any ORDERly plan!

To figure out just what is important to me I am going to leaf through magazines like REAL SIMPLE, PARENTING, OPRAH and figure out what organizational tools I want to use and activities I want on our family calendar. I will be creating a vision board to foster the new organized way into existence.  In the spirit of full disclosure, I have tried to do this very thing before but did not follow through (a common theme that is worthy of its own post sometime!)

This time around, I’ve decided I also want to create a more “Opening and Allowing” type of board (refer to Christine Kane’s great blog post for more clarification and a super tutorial.) You see I have this feeling that I am ready to move into a new phase of my life. I want to do something that fosters community, includes blogging and has room for a full and creative life with my family. Unlike the outcome board above, I have no idea how to proceed so I will be using my new vision board as a tool to point me in the right direction. Vision boards created in an allowing way have the uncanny knack of speaking to our subconscious so I am really excited to see what shows up!

Great Vision Board Resources:

I’m going to get started today and plan to reveal my board at the end of creativity week.

How about you? Interested in playing along?

  1. I have two vision boards in front of me for two different purposes! One is my essence and the other is for life in all its facets. I popped over to see Christine’s post and can wholeheartedly recommend Anugama, it’s my all time favourite piece of music to breathe to, to meditate with, to do healing work, and to write! In fact it’s on more than its off!
