Linda Adsetts is here with her weekly Go for the Joy message from The Group. Enjoy!
I have had many surprises in my life. Along the way, and like anyone, I deemed some good and some not so good. My husband surprised me on my 40th birthday, with a party and a wedding! He forged my signature on the marriage licence and invited our family and friends to our home. He asked my father if he would give his blessings, which of course he did. My family loves him as much as I do. Marcel, then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. With a few exceptions, everyone was as surprised as me! We had been living together for 10 years and had one child together. I had given up on being married. It had become a non-issue for me.
When he asked, I responded with “when?” and he replied “now!”. A minister appeared and we were married. I had no time to consider anything. I was wearing black. The party ended a few hours later-most everyone had been there since the early evening and I showed up from work later. The evening seemed to pass in moments and at the end of it all, I was left feeling deflated, as I cleaned up the mess.
It took many years before I came to terms with that feeling. I discovered that I felt left out. It was my day and yet I had no say in it. It became a story that was told many times over the years. Most everyone said “How romantic!” and yet it didn’t feel that way for a very long time.
Now I can look back and imagine the excitement he felt planning the day. There were even flowers for me. I had long given up on our being married. He had pulled off the surprise of his lifetime! His love for me has been strong and unwavering throughout the years. We have had our ups and downs, some which cracked us open wide and we have weathered it all. Today our marriage is stronger than ever. I also have discovered, from experience, over the years, that it can be way more fun to plan a great surprise than to receive one. I never reached his level of surprise factor, but I managed to plan some pretty nice ones. I had as much fun in the giving as he did in the receiving.
“We see as Linda is remembering this that her memories are clearer and untainted by the disappointments that she has carried for years. She has allowed herself to remember the only important aspect of the day which is love. Love is behind every surprise that you give and receive. Some of them, you would rather hadn’t found you. But we say this to you-you called each and everyone to you. Each experience, you called to you in order to experience the things that you needed to expand yourself having a human experience on planet earth. Now the time is here, where you can more actively and consciously co-create each experience. You have the power to imagine what it is you want to experience and how you would like it to feel.
You can now consciously reflect on your life and begin the process of deciding what is next. Do I want to be surprised in delight and love? Can those experiences that I need unfold more easily? It is your stopped up energy that causes your life to stop, stutter and rub against you. As you become to know who you are-a magnificent being of light and love and cement that in your being-you will begin to trust in the great love that you are a part of. You will no longer deem things bad or good-you will know instantly the silver lining that is within every experience. You will see the love. All of you are about love. All of you are up to God work-expanding the universes with each and every experience that you have. When you allow yourself to trust that all is well-despite outward experiences you will find that your life will explode with goodness-your goodness, waiting for you to show up in your trust. Love births every bit of it and is the thread that runs can run through everything-if you allow it to. Grace is in every bit of it and is the thread that you can trust your life on.
Now what will you do with that knowing? Will you become the you, who is waiting in perfect trust, to be birthed?
Of course you can-but will you?
