Honoring Our Everyday Courage

Welcome to Courage Week!

In Tamara’s photo her daughter scales a rocky cliff. Not really high on the courage scale for her but possibly impossible for others. You see courage is always relative. I have more courage than many when it comes to public speaking yet there are others who have more than me. Everyday we bump up against the edges of our courage.

January reminds us that just being here takes some too!

Take Heart
by January Handl

My daughter is on the edge
of bringing a new life
into this world
into the family
into gravity,
into pulse and breath

I feel into the
immense courage
it takes to share your
softly beating heart
with another
to allow the
miracle of more
to unfold within
your tender systems
that offer perception
that enhance the illusion
of solitary existence
while surrounded,
while connected,
with the mini-universes
of other journey men
in this planetary classroom

I feel the urge to breathe
deeply and fill
my body of
earth and water
with the air
that can sustain this minute
of vast feeling

Awe fills my lungs
at the courage it takes
to be born unto
this existence

Yes it all takes courage. Degrees we parse between us. Today you show more, tomorrow may be my turn.

This week our Bliss Initiative is honor the courage we have and take notice when we are at our personal limits. Leap or not, the noticing makes a difference. Celebrate the courage you show just by being here now.

Tamara and January are here each Monday to help set the mood for the week!
