the nature and essence of ultimate good

Welcome to Tuesdays with Chel.

If I have been of service, if I have glimpsed more of the nature and essence of ultimate good, if I am inspired to reach wider horizons of thought and action, if I am at peace with myself, it has been a successful day.”
– Alex Noble.

One thing I love about this quote is that I think Alex Noble sums up what true service is in the phrases after the words “been of service”:

– Service is seeking out “glimpses” of “the nature and essence of ultimate good”. It’s looking for the good in others, and looking at situations with as much of a positive perspective as you are able to.

– Service is being “inspired to reach wider horizons of thought and action”- to keep moving forward, to continue to improve our little corner of the world and the people in it.

and, ultimately:

– Service is being “at peace with [one]self”. When we are at peace with ourselves, it *definitely* rubs off on others. Think about the last time you were with someone who was cool, calm, and collected, someone who you could tell had peace of mind… it’s hard to be around someone like that and not have it affect you in some way. By seeking out our own peace of mind, we inspire others to do the same. That’s a definite service to those around us- near and far.
