Being in the moment is so easy to say and not so easy to do, all the time. It is super easy when you are cuddling a your newly born child. Nothing exists in that moment but your baby and you. The smell, the softness of the skin, the warmth of the new life cuddled in your arms is your whole world, in that one moment.

But babies grow up and become toddlers with all the messiness of life that entails! An on it goes.

Where can you find those moments again?

Everywhere, if you let ourselves be still and notice, if only for a few moments what surrounds you. Notice.

Your minds are more often than not so far ahead of your bodies that the beauty of your life goes unseen. The flowers in the garden become another chore as you water them. The furry friend that wants a walk gets squeezed into the day as just another thing to do.

When did you become doing macines and forget who you are? When did you forget to be?

I would guess that what I am about to advise you is not new to your ears. Stop and take a breath-notice your breath.

One breath in and one out. Another breath in and out and another, until you notice-oh, there I am.

There you are just being with your breath. There you are all slowed down and in the moment.

Oh my goodness, there I am!

Suddenly your world can take on a different quality. You may notice the sun shimmering in through the window and think to yourself how beautiful! You may find yourself noticing more and then you hear a voice. Mom I’m hungry! Or, your furry friend cold nose nuzzles your hand.

Back into your world of doing, but you have remembered the gift of being and you may find you have a smile on your face and a new appreciation for life on planet earth.

Your breath has brought you back to you.

How nice is that?

How easy is that?

You cuties you!

You knew all along how easy it was-you just forgot.

  1. This was sweet and encouraging, Linda! Some years ago when I began a meditation practice as an off-shoot of my yoga practice, I really learned how to breathe! And learned how to really appreciated the breath, the blessing that is breathing. We take it for granted sometimes. It’s easy, but yet how hard when we really stop to focus on it. So great to have this moment of stillness and breathing with you!
